Dear customers, partners, colleagues and friends of Mercedes-Benz in Japan,The horrific consequences of the earthquake and tsunami of last Friday are now very evident and fill us all with great sadness. Our thoughts are with those very many victims who have lost their lives, their loved ones, their livelihoods and their friends. It is clear that Japan is facing a tragedy and a test unexampled in its recent history. We have nothing but the greatest respect and admiration for the discipline, courage and deportment with which the Japanese government and the Japanese people are facing and mastering the appalling challenge now upon them. Mercedes-Benz has a close association with this great country stretching over very many years; an association of which we are very proud. In fact, never prouder than now. In this dark hour, we are resolved to do all that we can to maintain the operations of the company as a mark of respect to and solidarity with, all those who have supported us over those many years. We stand solidly at the shoulder of the Japanese nation and do so with great humility and with a keen sense of duty and obligation gladly borne.
